Start a Team
What we do:
Providing primarily preventative veterinary care and spay/neuter services to pet parents experiencing homelessness allows them to:
1. Keep their pets and maintain the strong bonds they have with them
2. Minimize economic euthanasia and pet surrender
3. Decrease the risk of infectious and zoonotic disease
The Street Dog Coalition will provide supplies including core vaccines and parasite prevention courtesy of Merck Animal Health. See below for more details and contact us if you’re interested.
*Team Leads must be locally licensed veterinarians; Co-Team Leads do not have to be.

An accessible location to host street clinics (indoor or outdoor)
Community partners (low cost S/N, day shelters, etc)
The ability to host a minimum of 4 street clinics per year
A commitment to local fundraising efforts
Volunteers (veterinary and non-veterinary)
An understanding and commitment to our Medical Protocols and Team Lead Agreement
Space to store medical and general supplies
Understanding of and adherence to SDC’s nondiscrimination statement and trauma-informed care
The Street Dog Coalition cares for the lives on both ends of the leash. Using a One Health approach, we provide free veterinary care to pets of people experiencing homelessness. Our veterinary care includes core vaccinations, heartworm testing, parasite prevention, treatment of minor wounds and infections, pain management, and other medical services.
Whenever possible, we strive to engage in collaborative efforts with human Street Medicine Institute programs. We encourage all prospective Team Leads to create a free One Health Clinic account and attend a discussion prior to signing a Team Lead agreement.

Because spay/neuter procedures cannot be done in the field, we collaborate with local low cost spay/neuter providers to provide this service at no cost to the pet parent.
